Do not Fear The Internet

Jessica Hische and Russ Maschmeyer are the masterminds behind Don’t Fear The Internet, a site that aims to teach basic HTML and CSS for non-web designers.
Through short tutorial videos, you’ll learn how to take a basic wordpress blog and manipulate the CSS, HTML (and even some PHP!) to match your aesthetic. You’ll feel empowered rather than crippled by the internet, and worst case scenario, you’ll at least end up having a better idea of how professional web designers turn your design dreams into a reality on screen.

Watch ur Back!

When I was in college, I wore a nerdy green backpack, but years later, backpacks are back! They're actually considered cool in New York right now (for real), and they're comfy and perfect for bike rides, laptops, weekend trips, and baby stuff. What do you think? Would you wear a backpack?

1. Farm rucksack, $160.
2. Canoe pack, $195. (More on amazon.)
3. Striped fleece backpack, $58.
4. Classic backpack, $85.
5. Leather backpack, $450.
6. Tie-dyed backpack, $58.
7. Laptop bag, $110. (Cool in Sweden.)
8. Heritage backpack, $55.

The Voice Project @Spin NYC

Last Night, The Voice Project put on a benefit event, Amplify Peace, at Spin New York.
For those who don't know Spin, its an amazing ping pong place thats got the hipster vibe and in a really cool space.
So with the mix of complimentary ping pong, live music, and a live auction, we were set on having a good time.

But this is more than just an excuse to go out on a Tuesday. Amplify Peace is hosted by The Voice Project, an organization that uses innovative social media campaigns, film, and music to raise awareness and fund programs to help end hostilities and aid victims of war in Africa.

For over two decades, war has ravaged Northern Uganda. It is the longest running conflict in Africa, and has spread to Southern Sudan and Eastern Congo. The Voice Project was inspiried by women's groups in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo that use traditional songs passed by word of mouth and on the radio to call child soldiers and abductees back home. The Voice Project is an effort to amplify their music, and see how far the message can spread.

I took a two video's of these two different groups that performed but for more cover's and information on this amazing charity click here.

How to Give Your Pictures a Summer Glow

I'm constantly asked how I tweak and edit my pictures, so I thought I'd post my favorite and one of the easiest to do!

Before
After

Step 1
Start by 1st creating a new layer. Click on the adjustment layer button ( looks like this) and select Hue/Saturation. Adjust the Saturation to +25 or +30 and the lightness to +10 or +15 (depending on how light the original image is).

Step 2
Next create another adjustment layer using the Color Fill option. Select a pale yellow, set to Multiply at 80% Opacity and 80% Fill (adjust opacity and fill to your liking).

 Step 3
Create another Color Fill layer. Select a pale purple color, set to Lighten at 50% Opacity and 50% Fill (adjust opacity and fill to your liking).

Step 4
Create one more Color Fill layer. Select a light blue, set to Color Dodge at 50% Opacity and 50% Fill (adjust opacity and fill to your liking).

Step 5
Create a Gradient adjustment layer. Set the gradient from transparent to white, adjust the angle to your liking. Set to Soft Light at 80% Opacity.

Save and Enjoy. Remember that these are just guidelines, every image will be a little different. Don't be afraid to tweak, adjust or omit some of the steps as you see fit.
